Homeschool Book Club
We already have a book group for grades 5-8 . We read and discuss classic books. We have been meeting for about a year now with good success. We snack, sometimes play a game, discuss our book and play afterwards. We meet the first Monday of each month at 3:30 pm, at Jennifer's home in Palatine (near IL-53).
Jennifer is starting a second book group for younger children, approximately grades 2-4, as of the fall. The books will be shorter and so will the discussion. There will be a snack and play time afterwards. The younger group will meet at her home at 2:30 pm. It doesn't matter how the books get read (listen on tape, adult reads aloud, or child reads). We will talk about plot, setting, a summary, good character traits, if we liked it, themes and other things... This is a great chance for children to learn how to have a group discussion, socialize and develop a love of books. In June we will read, by Alice Dalgleish. Almost all the books we read can be checked out from a local library. All are welcome. If you have questions, feel free to contact Jennifer at Jennifertu11is@yahoo.com or 847-925-9221.
